Tuesday August 18th – Our 2026-2027 seasons begins with a “Welcome Back Indoor Picnic” to include celebrating our 250 Anniversary of the United States of America. This will be held at the Garden Center, 1850 N. 9th Avenue, Pensacola Florida. Please make your reservations with Sandra Sherman at 850-572-8642 so we have a head count for our meat items provided by the Club. If your last name starts with A- M please bring a dessert and if your last name starts with N-Z bring a side dish item to share with members. Social is at 6pm, picnic buffet at 6:30pm.

Monday Sept. 7th– UWF Camellia Garden Work Day starting at 9:00am. We will have 2 semi loads of mulch being delivered on this holiday. Please bring your gloves, wheel barrow, shovels and rakes as we spread the mulch throughout the garden.

Saturday Sept. 19th – Shade House Club Members Camellia Sale Day by appointment. Attend the September meeting to be assigned your time slot for selecting your purchase from our complete inventory before we go public.

Saturday Oct. 17th – It’s Potting Day! Come to the Shade House starting at 9:00am for potting our harvested air layers, spraying camellias, fertilizing, and general clean up. There are over 600 air layers that will need to be unwrapped before they can be potted. Please bring your chair, gloves, pruners, carts and water bottles.
Tuesday Oct. 20th – Club Meeting – Program: “Cultivation and Care of Camellias.” Demo of how to gib will be provided for new members. You will need to ‘gib’ 7 weeks prior to our show date (1st application Oct 18th) to have your camellias ready to produce blooms for our December 12th show. Friday – Sunday Nov. 6 – 8th – Great Gulfcoast Art Festival at Seville Square. The Club will be part of the ‘Live Art’, auctioning Camellias and getting visibility at this major Pensacola event. Will need volunteers to attend the auction table and explain who and what the Pensacola Camellia Club is all about. More information will be in the October newsletter.

Tuesday Mar. 16th – Award Banquet at V. Paul’s Italian Ristorante. The 2027-2028 Officers and Board Members will be sworn in, T. Morris Scholarship Award, and ‘Person of The Year’ to be announced, along with Special Camellias for Auction. Cash bar will open at 5:30pm with Happy Hour prices all night on alcohol, wine, and beer, followed by dinner at 6:30pm. More information will be in the February newsletter.

Saturday Apr. 24th – UWF Camellia Garden Work Day, 9:00am to 12:00am. If you have wondered how to reduce large camellia plants, John Davy will lead a plant reduction demonstration. We will have members on hand to explain air layers and inside pruning of plants before we all get to work at the garden. Come watch and learn so you can improve your own yard with these methods.

Saturday Mar. 28th – Come join us at UWF Camellia Garden to air layer camellias. We start at 9am, bring you wrench/ knife for removing the cambium; the club will supply the rest of the materials to air layer; rooting hormone powder, brush, sphagnum moss, ‘press n seal, aluminum foil and metal plant tags and pen. If you never done this now is the time to assist side by side with members that have air layer before.
