2026 Pensacola Camellia Club Calendar
August 2026
Tuesday August 18th – Our 2026-2027 seasons begins with a “Welcome Back Indoor Picnic” to include celebrating our 250 Anniversary of the United States of America. This will be held at the Garden Center, 1850 N. 9th Avenue, Pensacola Florida. Please make your reservations with Sandra Sherman at 850-572-8642 so we have a head count for our meat items provided by the Club. If your last name starts with A- M please bring a dessert and if your last name starts with N-Z bring a side dish item to share with members. Social is at 6pm, picnic buffet at 6:30pm.
September 2026

Monday Sept. 7th– UWF Camellia Garden Work Day starting at 9:00am. We will have 2 semi loads of mulch being delivered on this holiday. Please bring your gloves, wheel barrow, shovels and rakes as we spread the mulch throughout the garden.
Tuesday Sept. 15th – Club Meeting – Program: Bellingrath’s Horticulture, Sarah Brecher will be our guest speaker covering their Enhance Camellia Collection. There will be gib available for members. Location: Garden Center, 6:30pm for social, 7:00 pm program. Please shop early for your donation for “Toys for Tots” or make a monetary donation and we will shop for you, donate here. The toys donations are in place of show prizes for our December Camellia Show winners.
Saturday Sept. 19th – Shade House Club Members Camellia Sale Day by appointment. Attend the September meeting to be assigned your time slot for selecting your purchase from our complete inventory before we go public.
October 2026

Friday Oct. 16th– will be for harvesting our air layers in various gardens. Details of where and time will be in the September newsletter.
Saturday Oct. 17th – It’s Potting Day! Come to the Shade House starting at 9:00am for potting our harvested air layers, spraying camellias, fertilizing, and general clean up. There are over 600 air layers that will need to be unwrapped before they can be potted. Please bring your chair, gloves, pruners, carts and water bottles.
Tuesday Oct. 20th – Club Meeting – Program: “Cultivation and Care of Camellias.” Demo of how to gib will be provided for new members. You will need to ‘gib’ 7 weeks prior to our show date (1st application Oct 18th) to have your camellias ready to produce blooms for our December 12th show. Location: Garden Center, 6:30pm for social, 7:00 pm program. Please bring in your toy donation for “Toys for Tots” or make a monetary donation and we will shop for you, donate here. The toys donations are in place of show prizes for our December Camellia Show winners.
Friday Oct. 23rd – Saturday Oct. 24th – is the Gulf Coast Camellia Society Conference which will be hosted by the Camellia Club of Greenville, AL. More information will be coming as we receive it.
November 2026

Camellia Show in Boston, GA Nov 6-7 see ACS website for their rules.
Friday – Sunday Nov. 6 – 8th – Great Gulfcoast Art Festival at Seville Square. The Club will be part of the ‘Live Art’, auctioning Camellias and getting visibility at this major Pensacola event. Will need volunteers to attend the auction table and explain who and what the Pensacola Camellia Club is all about. More information will be in the October newsletter.

Saturday Nov. 21st– UWF Camellia Garden Work Day starting at 9:00am. We will be providing general cleaning of the garden and gibbing. Please bring your gloves, rakes, knee pads and water bottles, we will provide the gib.

Saturday Dec. 5th – Pensacola Camellia Club at Palafox Market selling camellias and promoting upcoming events. If you can help between 8:00am -2:00pm please contact Louise at 850-780-0410. Please bring a chair, dress for the weather and we will greet the shoppers with camellias and smiles!
Tuesday Dec. 8th – Club Meeting – Christi Hankins/ Show Chairperson presenting “Where your help is needed for our Camellia Show.” We will finalize all jobs for setup and the show. Location: Garden Center, 6:30pm for social, 7:00 pm program. Please bring in your toy donation for “Toys for Tots” or make a monetary donation and we will shop for you, donate here. The toys donations are in place of show prizes for our December Camellia Show winners.
Friday Dec. 11th – Show set up at Jean & Paul Amos Performance Center located at 1000 College Blvd. Times for loading supplies and plants at the Shade House to be determine by our Show Chairperson.
Saturday Dec. 12th – Pensacola Camellia Club 88th Annual Camellia Show, & Plant Sales at Jean & Paul Amos Performance Center located at 1000 College Blvd. New members we have a Novice category for you to show your blooms for prizes. Exhibitors start time is 7:00am – 10:00am; Judging begins at 10:30am – 1:00pm, Open to the Public to enjoy all of the blooms 1:00pm – 4:00pm.

Tuesday Jan. 19th – Club Meeting – Program: ‘Hands On Grafting Workshop.’ We will have scions for you to select from, members to assist you with this propagation method. Location: Garden Center, 6:30pm for social, 7:00 pm program.

Friday Feb. 19th – Set up for Community Camellia Show at the downtown Public Library located at 239 Spring Street starting at 3:00 pm – 4:00pm
Saturday Feb. 20th – Pensacola Camellia Club to host Community Show and Plant Sale at the downtown Public Library on 239 Spring St, Pensacola, FL. Everyone is invited to bring their camellia blooms to compete for prizes in various categories starting at 9:00am. Saturday Mar. 6th – UWF Camellia Garden Work Day, 10:00am to 12:00am. We will be doing any necessary clean up before the garden tours. Please bring your gloves and water bottles.
Sunday Mar. 7th – UWF Camellia Garden Tour. Pensacola Camellia Club will welcome the public, provide air layering and pruning demonstrations, and have plants available for sale starting at Noon to 4:00 pm. Tuesday Mar. 16th – Award Banquet at V. Paul’s Italian Ristorante. The 2027-2028 Officers and Board Members will be sworn in, T. Morris Scholarship Award, and ‘Person of The Year’ to be announced, along with Special Camellias for Auction. Cash bar will open at 5:30pm with Happy Hour prices all night on alcohol, wine, and beer, followed by dinner at 6:30pm. More information will be in the February newsletter.

Friday – Sunday Apr. 2-4 – Pensacola Camellia Club will be selling camellias at UF/IFAS and Pensacola State College Milton Campus, ‘Spring Festival of Flowers’ sales event for the weekend. If you can help a few hours 9am – 4pm, let Trumin know 850-375-4541, bring chair and dress for the weather to greet the shoppers.
Saturday Apr. 3rd – Air layering at UWF Garden starting at 9:00am to Noon. Greg Taylor will bring the supplies needed for air layering, just show and help. Bring your water bottles and gloves.

Tuesday Apr. 20th – Club Meeting – Program: “Camellia Spring Cultivation Care and Maintenance” Location: Garden Center, 6:30pm for social, 7:00 pm program.
Saturday Apr. 24th – UWF Camellia Garden Work Day, 9:00am to 12:00am. If you have wondered how to reduce large camellia plants, John Davy will lead a plant reduction demonstration. We will have members on hand to explain air layers and inside pruning of plants before we all get to work at the garden. Come watch and learn so you can improve your own yard with these methods.
