January 2026
Thursday Jan. 8th – We have a special field trip to Bellingrath Garden where Sarah Brecher (PCC Member) will share some of the exciting projects going on at Bellingrath. Sarah and Todd Lasseigne have purchased many camellias from PCC and various clubs to expand their Camellia gardens. This will be a great time to view these camellia blooms and enjoy Bellingrath Garden. If you wish to carpool, be at the Shade House by 8:30am and will leave from there for our 10am appointment at Bellingrath. Contact Louise if you plant to attend at 850-780-0410.
Tuesday Jan 20th – Club Meeting: Program: “Hands On Grafting Workshop.” Location: Garden Center, 6:30pm for social, 7:00 pm program.
Saturday Jan. 24th – Pensacola Camellia Club at Japanese American New Year Celebration at Wright Place selling camellias and promoting upcoming events. If you can help between 9am -4pm please contact Louise at 850-780-0410, there is a $10 admission fee to attend.
Wednesday Jan. 28th – ‘Salute to the Winter Rose, Camellias’ at V. Paul’s. All gardeners & camellia lovers, come join us from 4:30 -6pm for a conversation about the care of camellias. Happy Hour prices on wine to salute the winter rose.
February 2026
Saturday Feb. 7th – Camellia Festival at Eden Gardens State Park 10-2pm, this is a great event to attend and for us to promote the Club’s future events.
Tuesday Feb. 17th – Program: Jane Benson presenting, “A Look at Soundside Garden.” Location: Garden Center, 6:30pm social, 7:00pm program. American Camellia Society’s National Convention Feb 19-22 in Charleston, SC. Visit their website for registration and agenda.
Saturday Feb. 21st – We have 2 events for you to choose from; selling camellias and promoting upcoming events at Palafox Market . If you can help between 8:30am – 2:00pm please contact Louise at 850-780-0410. Please bring a chair, dress for the weather and we will greet the shoppers with camellias and smiles!
Or UWF Camellia Garden Work Day starting at 10:00am to 12:00am. We will be doing any necessary clean up before the garden tours. Please bring your gloves and water bottles.
Sunday Feb. 22nd – UWF Camellia Garden Tour, Pensacola Camellia Club will welcome the public, provide air layering and pruning demonstrations, and have plants available for sale starting at Noon to 4:00 pm. March 2026
Friday Mar. 6th – Set up for Community Show at the downtown Public Library located at 239 Spring Street starting at 3:00 pm – 4:00pm.
Saturday Mar. 7th – Pensacola Camellia Club to host Community Show and Plant Sale at the downtown Public Library on 239 Spring St, Pensacola, FL. Everyone is invited to bring their camellia blooms to compete for prizes in various categories starting at 9:00am. Tuesday Mar. 17th – Award Banquet at V. Paul’s Italian Ristorante. The 2026-2027 Officers and Board Members will be sworn in, T. Morris Scholarship Award, and ‘Person of The Year’ to be announced, along with Special Camellias for Auction. Cash bar will open at 5:30pm with Happy Hour prices all night on alcohol, wine, and beer, followed by dinner at 6:30pm. More information will be in the February newsletter.
Saturday Mar. 19th – Air layering begins at Leland Leonard’s property located at 537 Brent Lane, Pensacola starting at 9am. The club will provide the supplies and materials needed for air layering. Assisting members is the best way to learn this propagation method, please join us for one or all of the air layering dates.
Saturday Mar. 28th – Come join us at UWF Camellia Garden to air layer camellias. We start at 9am, bring you wrench/ knife for removing the cambium; the club will supply the rest of the materials to air layer; rooting hormone powder, brush, sphagnum moss, ‘press n seal, aluminum foil and metal plant tags and pen. If you never done this now is the time to assist side by side with members that have air layer before.
April 2026
Thursday Apr. 9th– We will be air layering at Paul Bruno’s located at 619 N. Baylen St. Pensacola starting at 9am. The club will provide the supplies and materials needed for air-layering. Assisting members is the best way to learn this propagation method, please join us for this and other air layering dates.
Friday Apr. 10-12th – Pensacola Camellia Club will be selling camellias at UF/IFAS and Pensacola State College Milton Campus, ‘Spring Festival of Flowers‘ sales event for the weekend. If you can help a few hours 9am -4pm, let Trumin know 850-375-4541, bring chair and dress for the weather to greet the shoppers.
Tuesday Apr. 21st – Club Meeting Program: Guest Speaker Forrest Latta will cover, ‘International Camellia Society Role and Camellia Shows Differ By Various Countries.’ Location: Garden Center 6:30pm for social, 7:00 pm program.
Saturday Apr. 25th– UWF Camellia Garden Work Day starting at 9:00am to 12:00pm. If you have wondered how to reduce large camellia plants, John Davy will lead a plant reduction demonstration. We will have members on hand to explain air layers and inside pruning of plants before we all get to work at the garden. Come watch and learn so you can improve your own yard with these methods.
June 2026
Saturday Jun. 6th– Officers and Board Member meeting to plan the following season of events. Please share with them your ideas for meeting’s program and events.
